Group Antenatal Classes in Truro
5* rated antenatal classes in Truro that prepare you do birth & baby life your way…
Group antenatal classes done differently…
The truth is that traditional antenatal education doesn’t work for everyone.
Which is why I approach antenatal education in the way that I do.
Every pregnant, birthing and postpartum family I work with confirms my firmly held doula and mum philosophy:
The only person who knows what’s best for you, your body and your baby is you.
BUT equally, my lived experiences show me just how hard it can be to believe that when you’re the one making the decisions.
And that’s not really surprising, is it?
We’ve been raised in a world where the expert is someone or something else & most definitely not you. Information is prioritised over instinct, and advice supersedes intuition.
So many of the big antenatal courses & programmes focus on this: teaching you the best way to get the birth of your dreams.
But as someone who lives, sleeps and breathe birth, trust me: it really is not that black and white.
Positive modern & mainstream journeys into parenthood are about nuance…
This is something that relies on balancing so many different types of understanding:
what the body and brain are designed to do
what medical science and external support can offer
what maternity policies suggest and expect
how human kind has ‘done’ birth and baby rearing for millennia
AND more than anything else…
what your instinct tells you is right for you.
Striking that balance with confidence, whatever that looks like for you, is what my antenatal classes and courses exist to help you achieve.
“Your course made us feel more positive and focused! ”
Read it on Cornwall’s birth & baby blog…
“I am so glad I attended!”
Emma & Rob arrived at their group antenatal course in Truro feeling anxious about their baby’s birth.
They wanted everything to go well but didn’t know how to help that happen. By the end of their course, they didn’t just know what to do, but were able to use everything they’d learnt to create the positive birth experience they’d dreamed of…
What do we cover in my group antenatal classes?
Unlike other antenatal course providers, I don’t teach a particular approach or set way to prepare you for birth.
My focus is different. It’s you.
… and the priorities you have for pregnancy, birth and all that lies beyond.
Now obviously antenatal education means labour, birth, postpartum and baby-care.
But everyone comes to an antenatal class with a different focus, and I offer different workshops and courses to allow people to invest in an antenatal offering that truly works for them.
Therefore what we cover exactly will depend on the class or course you sign up to (more of that below…), But whichever one you choose, you’ll get the same…
real-life, relevant approach to birth & postpartum
focus on exploration over explanation
discussions that make space for the what-ifs and how-tos
practical opportunities to build your toolkit for birth and baby-care

Yes, absolutely.
Whilst we do cover theoretical situations and need-to-know information, I do my best to frame this in active and (wherever possible) practical activities.
This might be ‘doing’ but it also might be discussing, problem-solving, exploring or reflecting.
