When should I start preparing for birth?
Simple: the here and the now.
Life as a doula in Cornwall has taught me a lot about how positive birth experiences really happen.
Spoiler alert, it’s really not rocket science.
But the things that make a difference, really aren’t common knowledge either.
And that doesn’t seem fair to me; you deserve to know the basics.
Which is exactly why this workshop exists & exactly why I do it for free.
So if you’re asking the question, it’s time to start your birth prep.
Here.
And now.
What should I do to prepare for birth?
It’s not a tick-list: the things that make a difference need to be explored, understood & given time to sink in.
Birth preparation is less about what you know and so much more about how you feel about:
the process & procedures around birth
your body and its capabilities
the maternity services and systems
your current reality
the support network you have
This workshop talks you through how to approach each one in a way that will support a more positive birth experience.
Using prompt exercises & reflection tasks, I get you and your partner thinking about where you are right now.
So that you can create a plan for where to go next.
Can I prepare for birth without the overwhelm?
Birth is big, but it doesn’t need to be scary. As a doula, my job is to I break it down and make it manageable for you.
This workshop has evolved from years of supporting people to navigate birth & baby life with strength and confidence.
It’s filled with information and strategies that help, time and time again.
In our 45-minutes together, I’ll give you:
the knowledge you need to get started.
an insider perspective that’ll help you know what’s really ahead.
tools to create a personalised plan so you can start your birth preparation with confidence.

This workshop has maximum impact if you’re in your first or second trimester (before 20 weeks ideally) as the ideas have time to bubble, brew and develop.
If you’re in your late-second or third trimester, a more hands-on, knowledge-rich birth workshop will be more useful to you.
-
You don’t need to know anything about birth or babies to start preparing. That’s why you’re here!
Come ready to discover & ask questions and all will be well.

No, not at all. Some people never write one and never want one, and some do. Either is fine. However it IS always useful to know what your ideal birth would be.
-
Yes, absolutely. First time parents really benefit from the mindset work we cover which other antenatal or birth preparation courses gloss over or ignore.
But as a doula, I feel this is essential. Which is why I do it for free.
-
Yes, absolutely.
Every time we approach birth, we come with different experiences and knowledge than we had before. This workshop will help you to dig into all of these and figure out where you need to go next.
-
If possible, YES!
Being a birth partner is a huge role and relies on them understanding you and your needs. Their mindset and knowledge will also influence their birth partner persona. This workshop will give them an ’in’ into both of these.
-
Sort of. This workshop is an introduction to the five things that really make a difference to birth. While this isn’t a hypnobirthing taster, I do introduce you to several of the hypnobirthing principles I teach within my antenatal classes and use within my doula practice.
-
Remember, this is a starting point for birth preparation but it will not fully prepare you (hence why you need to do it early to create a plan!)
A lot of the topics I introduce and explore here are expanded on in my antenatal courses; that is where the real leg work is done.
-
Yes, totally free. All you have to do is sign up, click the link on the email I send you 24 hours before and tune in at the right time. There’s no obligation to pay me anything or sign up to any further services from me.
