Antenatal classes in Cornwall: why go private?

A pair of expectant parents talk about their hopes and fears for birth during a Born to Birth private antenatal class in Cornwall

When it comes to the birth of your baby, no one matters more than you. Private antenatal classes allow me focus on this 100% from start to finish.

As a doula, I know that birth is far more than a physical process: it’s emotional, logistical and cultural; this combination is what makes your journey to parenthood totally unique.

Though my group antenatal class is personalised, it will ever completely meet your individual needs. But when it’s just us, I can.

That’s why private antenatal classes are such a core part of what I do. Working with you, either in your own home, at a time to suit you, we will:

  • cover a course filled with the content that’s relevant to you

  • at a time that works for you

  • in a style that helps you learn best

It’s like meeting a stranger and never wanting them to leave! The activities were prepared in the BEST way. Getting us to do basic things like prepping formula really gets you thinking about those tasks that you assume are going to be easy but haven’t really given much thought to.

As a working birth doula, I know how important you are in your birth experience: from the knowledge you have, to the skills you practice and the confidence you possess, everything has the power to influence your birth experience

What I found most useful was the opportunity to pick what subjects matter to us, what we as a couple wanted to explore, what questions we would like answered ...no judgement, no biased approaches, no blinkered approach. I feel so empowered by the classes that I am excited to give birth.
